Better late than never, right? Decided I should write this up before the upcoming Okinawa trip.

  • On the bus going up to Niigata, they played a video message from Kiiyan and e-zuka. Kiiyan said the buses from Sendai are for Val and the ones from Nagoya are for Takita. No mention of who the buses from Osaka and Tokyo were for. Heh.
  • When we got there (hours before any other buses), we discovered life-sized banners and cutouts of Kiiyan and e-zuka. Plus posters all over. Even in the rest rooms:  e-zuka in the men’s, Kiiyan  in the women’s. They were wearing satiny school uniform like outfits for them.
  • We found Ro-gumi bottled water in our room. I think I actually didn’t drink mine til after I got home, which means I carried them around Japan with me on my mini-vacation after the trip. Heh.
  • After a rest and cleaning up, we decided we needed food. The only place open was a gift store in another of the resort’s 6 buildings, so we trekked over. On our way back, we happened to glance out the big windows in the back and realized Kiiyan was out there with a group of Lantis staff, filming.
  • Of course we stopped, as did a few other folks. Kiiyan was playing around with golf, and bouncing a small ball like a hackey sack. Needless to say, we took a ton of pics. And then….
  • e-zuka came out to join him. He saw all of us, waved, then joined the filming.
  • At some point, Kiiyan took a selfie with his garakei. Inside we were all cracking up because the sound of 10 or so phones all snapping pics of him at the same time was just too funny
  • After e-zuka did some golf shots, they moved on to tennis. Unfortunately, by then, Lantis staff had definitely noticed us and asked us to stop taking pics. Nicely, they didn’t ask us to delete anything we had already taken. I managed a bunch of pics plus some video.
  • At some point the tennis “game” became doubles, with Lantis (and maybe KenPro?) staff jumping in. Kiiyan was being very gentle with his shots to the women staffers. He was also trying so,  SO hard to do a proper tennis serve, but drove it into the net every single time.
  • Other buses started arriving around then, so they stopped, alas. Kiiyan was so freakin’ adorable. Like a kid at recess.
  • Events on the trip:  stamp rally (find all the numbered posters, get a stamp and show them to staff for a special post card), photo panel museum of mostly concert shots, 3 shot photo op with Kiiyan and e-zuka, acoustic live, variety corner, closing ceremonies.

  • Later, either at the party or the closing ceremonies, they talked about the tennis, with e-zuka mentioning it was his first time playing. Kiiyan didn’t say.
  • At the opening ceremonies, they wore the prince outfits that they had on in the posters. e-zuka said they were “Prince no Oujisama.” (only a LITTLE redundant! XD)
  • During the three shot, Kiiyan tried to mix it up a little, at least varying the position of his left hand; but e-zuka did the exact same pose for EVERY picture. Heh.
  • For the evening acoustic live, my roomie and I were last row, middle section.
  • Set list:
    • ろ組のテーマ
    • Delight song
    • Snow Pallett
    • 日常ホライズン
    • To Be With You (cover of Mr. Big)
    • Modern strange cowboy (Bossa nova version)
    • Love is Over (cover)
    • Happy Life
    • シャニムニ
  • Nichijou was *amazing* acoustic! Ditto the bossa nova msc. 💓
  • And they sang Mr. Big’s To Be with You as a lovely duet.  Hearing Kiiyan sing ‘just to be the next to be with you’ in English … kyaaaa!
  • And they sang Love is Over. Though Kiiyan forgot a bunch of lyrics.
  • Part 2 for the evening was the “party,” which was more of a variety show, including bingo, where they gave away a ton of GR stuff, some of Kiiyan’s clothes (no, really — like the green jacket he wore for the B’s Log Voice of Prince photo shoot, the leopard jacket he wore for the Corda shows in 2010, etc.), Q&A, Prince corner…
  • One of my roomies won a KFC gift certificate in the bingo, which is as close as I’ve come to winning anything. Desperately wanted any of Kiiyan’s clothes they were giving away. Dang.
  • At one point, e-zuka claimed to not know what Final Fantasy was. No one believed him.
  • We got to hear Val sing enka (whoa!) and both Takita and Kiiyan take on bits of L’arc en ciel songs (we need a Kiiyan/hyde duet!)
  • In the Prince corner, they would randomly select a seat and that person could come up and draw a piece of paper with an action the Prince had to do. Given the options, all four were glad no Rodeo Boys were drawn. I bet some of the girls who did win were on a GR high for weeks!
    • Kiiyan’s first RG drew “sweet words.”
    • e-zuka had to whisper in his RG’s ear. He did it … dorkily, of course.
    • Val had to do akogui, which is where you lift someone’s chin up so they can see your face.
    • TAKITA KABE-DON’ED SOMEONE. And actually,  there wasn’t a wall at first, so Takita asked if a yuka-don (yuka = floor) would be okay. I’m amazed the RG didn’t pass out. They found a temporary wall for him, though. XD
    • Kiiyan and another RG had a hand holding two shot photo op.
  • Kiiyan claims Takita was sekuhara’ing the Lantis female staff. Even e-zuka was giving Takita a hard time.

  • We learned that Kiiyan was into long hair right at the time, Val pony tails and Takita likes it loose.
  • They got asked about Daigo’s wedding. Yes, e-zuka cried, but he said Daigo also cried when hyde was singing.
  • Kiiyan,  as a response to KSK (Daigo’s cute acronym for he and his wife), spelled out SEX. e-zuka then turned that against Takita.
  • Kiiyan said if he ever got married, he would invite the Ro-gumi. D’aw.
  • When Kiiyan was answering what he’s doing to prep for the Treasure Candy tour (walking 8 km per day), Takita came up behind him and was feeling up his abs. Kiiyan was startled, said it would be okay if Takita was a cute girl … and had to remind him that Kiiyan’s tummy wasn’t 100%. (Some medicine he took was making him gassy … e-zuka was making fart jokes….).
  • There was  question about what GR song should be Kiiyan’s and e-zuka’s individual theme songs. Kiiyan felt Kenzenna honno for him, and the guys agreed. But then a bunch of girls behind me said Volcano and he changed his mind.
  • Kiiyan still has a bit of a cold. He said he’d sound bluesy, husky, which one RG decided needed to be huskiiyan….
  • At the party they asked who had been to Naeba before … none of them had except Takita.  e-zuka was like “ah ha, there was a girl involved, wasn’t there?” And apparently there was. Sasuga, Ero-sensei.
  • Near the end they went through the audience. I managed a nice feel of Kiiyan’s upper arm (so smooth), and e-zuka found me right away. He was waving to my row, saw me, went “Oh!” and gestured at me with his beer can. I grinned, waved, waited as he cutely went over options in his head, and then enthusiastically.said “Good luck!” I gave him a thumbs up and said Thank you!
  • Second day was closing ceremonies, where they gave away all the photo panels that had been on display. No winners in my group, needless to say.
  • We learned that e-zuka has been at least to Mexico, Colombia and Singapore. Not Europe, though.

  • They solicited suggestions for the location for the next FC event. Someone suggested Okinawa, and Kiiyan pointed out you can’t exactly bus there…. Sorry Kiiyan, clearly you got overruled, since Okinawa is in just a few weeks.
  • e-zuka had suggested the next trip should be overseas. You can guess Kiiyan’s response. XD
  • They had so much fun poking at the picture taking session from the night before, striking some epically dorky poses. Because of all the KAWAIIIII they made Takita and Val strike cute poses too.
  • The night before, Kiiyan had been holding his breath to be cute like Aoi Shouta.  e-zuka did it on Sunday. Not anywhere near as cute. XD
  • Kiiyan all but said Aoi is pretty like a girl, talking about the Animelo theme video for this year.
  • e-zuka, who clearly hates being called cute, told Kiiyan that for a 40 year old, he sure gets called cute a lot.
  • As we left to go to the buses, Kiiyan and e-zuka both shook everyone’s hands. Kiiyan was definitely in “work” mode, but at least I was in the first 100 or so, before it got too old. Heh.
  • We were given nice folders with a DVD and a spot for our 3-shot, like last time. Plus a nice, long T-shirt.
  • And then … they  came on the bus to say good bye!
  • After we left, staff put on another DVD message…. and Kiiyan started talking like Mickey Mouse, cracking up e-zuka and the crew. (and all of us on the bus)
  • I enjoyed the first bus trip, but Lantis/trip staff outdid themselves this time. The stamp rally was entertaining, the photo panel rooms were great, the live/party so much fun. And we had so many opportunities to interact with the band. I am so very lucky that Granrodeo aren’t so huge they can’t do things like this. Really can’t wait for Okinawa.
